You’re sat on the starting line, visor down, the smell of petrol and rubber engulfs your senses. Your heart beats faster; your foot hangs nervously over the accelerator as you wait for the lights to turn green. You pick your racing line as you gaze up the start finish straight to the first corner, the deafening noise of the engine ringing in your ears as you wait for the final seconds to tick away before burying your foot on the throttle!
Think you have what it takes to win a place on the podium? Then pit yourself against colleagues, competitors and 15 other teams as you drive to become the winners of “The Charity Karting Challenge” 2008.
107.2 Bristol’s STAR Radio has teamed up with Arco, The Raceway and The Children’s Hospice South West for the first ever karting endurance event for charity on June 5th 2008.
16 Teams, each with 6 drivers, will compete over a 2½ hour endurance race, grand prix style, to win a coveted place on the winner’s podium. Each team of 6 drivers will have the chance for a pre-race night practice session to hone their skills.
On the night you’ll need to drive your way through the qualification stages for your place on the grid before the lights turn green and you’re off. The team that completes the most distance over the 2½ hour race wins!
All sponsorship and proceeds from the night are for The Children’s Hospice South West that provides respite and palliative care to life limited children and their families in the South West. Charlton Farm in Wraxhall near Bristol has been open since April 2007 and already provides support and care for 70 local families.
